5 tips for faster recovery after childbirth

Congratulations! You passed the first level and did it perfectly. You are a true superheroine who can fight anything that comes her way.

It’s time to take care of yourself and get into the desired shape – mentally and physically. It may not happen right away, but remember – the drop with patience has broken through the stone. Don’t despair and roll up your sleeves!

Here are five helpful tips for a faster postpartum recovery so you can enjoy your new little one at home with maximum peace of mind and energy.

Movement, movement and more movement – move your body

Immediately after birth, the idea of exercise may seem like a call from another universe. Don’t be too quick to dismiss physical activity – it’s an extremely important part of postnatal recovery.

It’s not about intense workouts or lifting weights. Start with nice walks in the fresh air. Light stretches can also help your body recover faster and deal with muscle aches.

Physical activity improves blood circulation and promotes faster tissue repair. Plus, a little movement is a great way to cope with the hormonal changes and mood swings that often occur in the postnatal period.

Eat like a queen, drink water like a fish!

After giving birth, your body needs premium fuel – this is where healthy food and water come into play. Fuel up on vitamins, minerals and energy through nutritious foods, and your water bottle should become your third arm.

Your body has been through a tremendous ordeal and now needs all the beneficial nutrients to recover. Eat fruits, vegetables, whole grains and protein sources such as fish, meat and legumes. Hydration is important for everything from skin to breastfeeding, so don’t underestimate it.

Sleep whenever you get the chance

The dream – that dream destination that is always at your fingertips, but you never get there.

Here is one of the most important tips: when the baby sleeps, you sleep too. Yes, you can skip a chore, but that’s not important. Rest is invaluable for your recovery. Like a true superheroine, you also need to recharge.

Sleep deprivation can lead to further exhaustion and even worsen your mental state. Napping comes first, everything else will wait!

Fight constipation? Fibre comes to the rescue!

Postpartum constipation can be a real challenge, but don’t despair – fiber is your savior. They’re key to a well-functioning digestive system.

Add more whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables to your daily menu. Oatmeal, pears, apples and green spinach are great sources of fiber. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water! It helps fiber do its job properly. Not only will this help you avoid constipation, it will also improve your overall health and tone.

The perineum deserves care – be gentle with yourself

This may not be your favorite topic, but perineum care is super important. To ease discomfort and speed up the healing process, it’s important to take proper care of this area.

Compresses with warm water or herbal decoctions can be very helpful. There are also special creams that help reduce swelling and speed up recovery. Be sure to wear comfortable and breathable clothing to avoid further irritation. And most importantly – don’t force things. Your body needs time to fully recover. Be patient and give it what it needs.

Recovering from childbirth can be challenging, but with the right postpartum care, you’ll feel better every day. The postnatal period is a time of adjustment for you too. The important thing is to accept this as part of the process and seek help if you feel the need.
